Interior Design Meets (Sustainable) Fashion
Interior Design Meets Fashion put on a modern, planet-conscious runway show over the weekend, placing an emphasis on the resources and continued viability of the industry in which anybody wearing clothes is an active participant. The eighth fashion show since the charitable organization’s beginnings in 2015, the decision to place our collective home at the forefront this year is reflected in its title: Interior Design Meets Sustainable Fashion.
Community Highlight: The Intersection of Mixology and the Arts
Texas Paralegal Day
The annual event is a collaboration of the two paralegal associations representing the San Antonio area, from the Hill Country to Corpus. Continuously volunteering through the community for Stuff the Bus, the Food Bank, and Adopt a Family, both organizations offer support to paralegals, legal assistants, legal secretaries, and students.
Happy Frights, Haunting Nights
Journey over to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens in your scariest costume (plus your closed-toe shoes) and follow the haunted trails through the Mysterious Woods, Bubbly Block Party, Jack-O-Lantern Jaunt, Monkey Mayhem, Scarecrow Summit, and other worlds where creepy characters lurk.
A Night of Fashion, Luxury, and Philanthropy: Fashion for Life, Black Tie Edition
As a nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for survivors of domestic violence in San Antonio, Fashion for Life supports the P.E.A.C.E. (Putting an End to Abuse through Community Efforts) initiative, and it’s through this dazzling event that they raise both awareness and funds for this crucial cause.

Evenings on the Edge at Topaz - Children’s Cancer Benefit
It was 80s night - a celebration at La Cantera Resort & Spa to raise funds for Hope Hits Harder, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for children diagnosed with cancer.
Strut Fashion Show
The highly-anticipated STRUT at Mi Vaquita was an extraordinary event presented by AD Productions and helmed by award-winning hair stylist Dominic Alonzo. Known for his innovative approach, Alonzo's vision for the night was to shine the spotlight on those who have inspired him, and to showcase that fashion is truly for everyone—a sentiment beautifully captured in every aspect of the show.
Rose Petal Gala
SAFE Homecare hosted the Rose Petal Gala Senior Prom, an evening of dining and dancing for independent living residents at The Forum Senior Living Community. Residents crowned a King and Queen, posed for photo opps, and danced the night away before heading out with their bag of swag.

Cosplay, Anime, Merch, and More: San Japan 2024
San Japan 2024–the city’s largest annual anime and gaming convention–took over the Henry B. Gonzalez convention center downtown over the weekend, and for a brief moment the riverwalk looked more like a stage from Super Smash Bros; minus the fisticuffs.
Cirque Sings Songblazers in San Antonio
Songblazers–one of the newest experiences from Montreal-based performance troupe Cirque du Soleil–has been moseying across the country since July. Paying homage to the musical greats among America’s country canon, the western-themed show is unique even for Cirque, featuring a heretofore untapped genre, and their most musician-forward cast to date.
Texas Fashion Industry Awards Nominee Party
Honorees–including Scene in SA for Fashion Magazine of the Year–got the opportunity to connect with other fashion-minded members of the community, chat with Texas Fashion Industry Initiative leadership, and look ahead to Texas Fashion Week, beginning later this fall in October.
Wine, Women & Shoes
The day was an irresistible blend of fashion and compassion with women coming together to get glamorous with their girlfriends while enjoying incredible varietals from top winemakers––all for a good cause.
Martini Party
San Antonio Martini Foundation & Trust hosted its annual Martini Party at the Witte Museum. One thousand guests attended the event, which was chaired by Adam Buck. Henry and The Invisibles entertained the crowd on a cool evening outdoors.
Come on Barbie Let’s Go Party!
Upon entering Barbie’s World, Barbie fans placed bids at the sparkly auction, found beauty at the Mondini Creativity Corner, took selfies at the Barbie Snap Station, and dared to dream big during the Woodlawn Theatre performance.
Thanks for the Memories: A Night with the Emo Orchestra
Lead vocalist Craig Mabbit shared some of his thoughts about the tour with me over dinner. “It’s amazing to play with a full orchestra… even to hear our own songs with a full orchestra is really cool, " he went on, “We clicked really quickly. The camaraderie is great.”
Art in the Garden
Art in the Garden’s 4th annual event was held at the beautiful San Antonio Botanical Gardens. Founder Andrea Wollenzin and chairs Jennifer Biechlin, Desaree LaMacchia, Baylie Collins and Chalene Martinez collected works of art from 25-plus artists which were auctioned to raise funds for San Antonio Young Life East.
