New Kid on the Block: Boerne’s Newest Addition

Nestled in the hill country is a lovely day trip experience that exudes the charm of small town Texas, but is easily accessible from San Antonio. Boerne, Texas has a charming main street area with delectable restaurants and tantalizing retail shops to explore. Only a short walk from the heart of this country gem, you’ll find creek-side dining at Boerne must-have, The Dodging Duck, as well as recent new-comer Pinchy’s Lobster and Raw Bar. The newest among these heavy hitters though, is Sunny’s: All Day Brunch and Bar. I had the pleasure of being invited to attend the soft opening of this beautiful new space exploring the idea of being able to get a classy, Instagram-worthy brunch experience all day, every day.
Upon entering Sunny’s, one is greeted with an inviting ambiance reminiscent of a European cafe, matched by their dynamic menu. Owner Albi Zogaj and the rest of the team at Sunny’s have curated a lovely brunch menu with classic breakfast plates, as well as Mediterranean and Mexican-influenced dishes all across the sweet-savory spectrum. There is something for every palate; even on the cocktail menu. My family and I tried a wide selection from the menu including The Sweetheart crepe, which was filled with nutella and fruit, and naturally quite beloved by our nine-year-old son. We also had the Citrus Chicken and the Mykonos Meets Mexico, which were both flavorful and healthy.
To top it all off, the menu simply reads, “Comes with fries,” but do not let it fool you, as they serve some of the best truffle and dill fries I have ever tasted; no ketchup required. We paired our meals with house cucumber mint and blackberry lemonades, which were both the perfect, refreshing finish to the meal. While we did not partake in the cocktail menu this time, there is a great selection including their signature Citrus Got Real, and a very appealing mimosa bar. For those seeking a traditional tipsy brunch, you will not be disappointed.
Albi is truly carrying on the legacy of his father, owner of Albi’s Vite in Leon Springs, with this endeavor.
