San Antonio Staple In the Heart of Downtown

Bombay Bicycle Club, a cherished institution in San Antonio's dining and nightlife scene of 50 years, has recently expanded with a new location in the rapidly evolving Hemisfair Park area, opening its doors in October 2023. This second venue at 607 Hemisfair Blvd., steps into a vibrant environment, sharing the locale with buzzworthy establishments like Box Street All Day and Dough Pizzeria Napoletana. While it modernizes some aspects—like adopting a more contemporary decor with moody banana leaf wallpaper, emerald velvet bar stools, and an immaculate display of vibrant stainless glass decor—it retains the beloved menu, featuring burgers, nachos, and the signature black cherry margarita. The expansion into Hemisfair underscores the area's growing appeal as a hub of culinary and cultural innovation, further highlighted by upcoming projects like Nicola Blaque's Port Royal and Kusch Faire. Bombay Bicycle Club's commitment to preserving the spirit of its original location while embracing the future, positions it as a pivotal player in the dynamic landscape of downtown San Antonio.

In addition to its iconic status and new Hemisfair location, Bombay Bike Club takes pride in its culinary details. They hand-bread their chicken, pickle veggies on-site, and craft all their sauces in-house, emphasizing a commitment to quality and freshness. When asked about what sets them apart, the essence of their response was the focus on doing the small things well, highlighting their dedication to excellence in every aspect of the dining experience. Dixie Haag, the current general manager, was a part of the Bombay team during the early years of the original location as a waitress when she was working on her graduate degree. After retiring from teaching from the school district, she returned to Bombay Bicycle Club as a fun retirement job which has allowed her to be part of this exciting extension of the local establishment. She emphasized that growing pains happen with opening a brand new location, but she is dedicated to keeping true to the high standards of Bombay’s local hospitality and ensuring that this is the spot for all San Antonians.
