40th Annual Jazz’SAlive
The San Antonio Parks Foundation, in partnership with The City of San Antonio and Michelob Ultra, hosted the 40th Annual Jazz’SAlive Festival and the Grand Opening of Civic Park at Hemisfair!
The two-day line up featured a stellar schedule of jazz musicians who entertained thousands of fans sprawled out in the new Civic Park area taking advantage of the delicious food offerings, lawn games, artisan vendors, dancing, cool drinks, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Upon arriving, The United States Air Force Band of the West Dimensions In Blue Ensemble featuring Gerald French & The Original Tuxedo Band were playing When the Saints Come Marching In. The Yuko Mabuchi Trio followed; Mabuchi, a virtuoso pianist, kept fans on the edge of their seats as she showcased her unique talent and style. Big Sam’s Funky Nation kicked it way up as he closed out the night-a loud, rocking good time of hip-hop, funk and punk, with elements of jazz, dance, and hard rock, leaving fans craving more! What a way to end Jazz’SAlive. One heck of a jazzy good time not to be missed next year!
